Police recover two stolen vehicles

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 5 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a suspicious man driving a lawn mower eastbound on Pioneer Line near Walmart.

Waiting for him, was a woman standing next to a U-Haul truck in the parking lot.

As the man observed the cruiser, he fled on foot.

Through investigation, police determined that the lawn mower was stolen from Home Depot and the U-Haul truck was stolen from Windsor.

The 27-year-old Dover Township woman was arrested and has been charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The man has been identified and a warrant is being requested for his arrest.

Theft of tools in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Sunday night at 9 p.m. and Monday morning at 7 a.m. unknown suspects entered an unlocked garage on Sherwood Court and stole various tools, baseball equipment and a grey Supercycle bike.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $800.

Motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Forest Street near Elizabeth Street in Chatham.

Minor injuries were reported.

Total damage was estimated at $15,000.

A 63-year-old woman was charged with start from stop not in safety.
