Update: One arrest made after home invasion in Ridgetown

The Chatham-Kent Police Service have made one arrest after a home invasion in Ridgetown on the weekend.

Police officials allege early Sunday morning, shortly after 5 a.m. three men carrying baseball bats entered an apartment on Victoria Avenue, knocking over the homeowner, as she unlocked the door.

Once inside, the men assaulted two men inside the apartment and left.

Both victims sustained serious injuries and were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, police allege.

“Yesterday, police identified one of the men involved and he was arrested,” police officials said in a press release.

The 33-year-old Ridgetown man has been charged with break and enter – commit aggravated assault, being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of break and enter – commit assault with a weapon, police say.

He was released pending a future court date of August 19, 2020.

“Police continue to look for the other two men and believe the incident was not a random act of violence,” police officials added.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Paul Brophy at paulb@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #619.
