Man charged with aggravated assault
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, police responded to a physical altercation outside an establishment on King Street West in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man pushed the victim, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the sidewalk.
The victim, a 39-year-old Dover Township man was transported by ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and transferred to Windsor for medical attention.
The 28-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Collision leads to impaired driving charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police received information about a fail to remain collision on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.
Officers located the man on Centre Side Road when he backed his vehicle into the ditch, while attempting to turn around.
Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.
The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests where he refused to provide a sample.
A 37-year-old Windsor man has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident, having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and refusing to provide a suitable sample of his breath.
He was released pending a future court date of September 1, 2020.
Stolen vehicle recovered in Blenheim
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police received information about a possible stolen pick-up truck in a parking lot on Communications Road.
Through investigation, police located the truck and confirmed that it had been stolen from Windsor earlier in the day.
The two occupants in the vehicle were arrested.
A 37-year-old Shrewsbury man and a 29-year-old man, of no fixed address, were charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.
They were both released pending a future court date of September 16, 2020.
The registered owner of the vehicle was notified and attended to retrieve his truck.
Disturbance leads to assault charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance on King Street East in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man attempted to punch another man and then made stabbing gestures towards the man while holding a wooden stick.
Offices located the man and the wooden stick carved with a sharp tip was seized.
A 47-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.
He was released pending a future court date of September 16, 2020.
Man charged with breaching release conditions
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last Friday, a man drove by the residence of a teen girl, with whom he is not to have contact with.
Police were notified of the incident.
Yesterday morning, the man attended police headquarters and turned himself in.
The 19-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.
He was released pending a future court date of September 18, 2020.
Youths charged with theft
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday night, a 13-year-old boy reached out to a 14-year-old boy offering to sell a pair of shoes.
The youth agreed to buy them for $200 and arrangements were made to meet in the parking lot of a local school.
The 14-year-old attended the school with a friend to buy the shoes.
As the youths were about to exchange the shoes for money, the seller’s older brother came around the corner, dressed in dark clothing and stole the victim’s cash and assaulted his friend.
Police were notified of the incident and both teen boys were arrested yesterday.
The 13-year-old Chatham boy has been charged with theft under $5,000.
The 16-year-old Chatham boy has been charged with theft under $5,000 and assault.
Both were released pending a future court date of September 28, 2020.
Theft of rifle in Howard Township
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, unknown suspects entered the unlocked office of a livestock barn on Beechwood Line and stole a .22 calibre rifle, ammunition and animal prod.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $700.

Theft of electronics in Chatham
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Sunday at 7 p.m. and Monday at 10 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Taylor Avenue.
Once inside, the suspects stole a PlayStation 4 gaming system and laptop.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $1,500.
