Police: Traffic blitz in Wallaceburg, aggravated assault, stolen truck

Traffic enforcement in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of the Traffic Management Unit conducted an enforcement blitz in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation in Wallaceburg.

As a result of this targeted Commercial Vehicle Operation:

– 31 vehicles were inspected

– 24 charges were laid ranging from vehicle maintenance to licensing along with Highway Traffic Act violations

– 15 vehicles were taken out of service

– Two sets of license plates were seized

The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds drivers that these blitz will continue throughout the year across our community in an effort to keep our roadways safe.

Man charged with aggravated assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Tuesday night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a fight between two men known to each other resulted in serious injuries.

The victim, a 67-year-old Chatham man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and later transferred to Windsor for medical attention.

Yesterday, the 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

He was released pending a future court date of October 28, 2020.

Woman charged with criminal harassment

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the Dresden area.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman attended the residence and drove her vehicle across the front lawn and collided with another vehicle.

The homeowner further reported that the woman had been harassing her and her husband.

The 42-year-old Thamesville woman was arrested and charged with mischief and criminal harassment.

She was released pending a future court date of November 20, 2020.

Stolen truck in Dresden

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Tuesday at 1 a.m. and yesterday at 3 p.m. unknown suspects entered an unlocked building on Wellington Street and stole a white 2016 Ford F-150 truck.

The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates BB66 990.

Man charged with stunt driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, an officer with the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Bear Line Road.

The officer recorded the man driving 136 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The 45-year-old Blenheim man was charged with stunt driving.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on November 18, 2020.

The man’s license has been seized for seven days and his vehicle impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind motorists that speeding is not only costly but dangerous.
