The Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts is adding even more music to WAMBO Weekend, stepping in with a pair of musical boosts that stretch across Saturday.
At 11 a.m. on August 8, the main stage becomes a family zone as the Council teams up with Canadian Children’s Music Legends – Kindred Kids, for Raffi Reimagined.
It’s a free show for all ages and it stars Qu, a local musician whose connection to the community makes the performance feel right at home. Anyone looking for a bright, musical start to their Saturday will find them on the main stage. The partnership between the council and Kindred Kids is another example of how local arts groups continue to invest in community music and family programming.
Once the main stage wraps, the energy shifts to the WAMBO Beer Tent. The Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts is presenting the Second Saturday on the Sydenham, a monthly tradition where entertainment is brought to the waterfront on the second Saturday of each month. For WAMBO Weekend, they’re bringing that tradition straight into the beer tent with CD/DC from Sarnia, a crowd‑pleasing band known for sing‑along favourites and a lively stage presence. It’s a natural fit for the festival atmosphere and a reminder of how the Arts Council continues to support local entertainment in creative ways.
Director Sue Baert joined me for an interview to talk about these additions to the WAMBO lineup and the massive 50‑50 draw the council has teamed up with the WAMBO crew for.
The draw for both the 50‑50 and the e‑bike giveaway will take place on the Sunday of WAMBO Weekend, adding an extra layer of anticipation to an already packed schedule. It’s shaping up to be a weekend where music, community, and celebration all meet in the same place, carried forward by the people who work year‑round to keep Wallaceburg’s arts scene thriving.
