Traffic stop leads to drug charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.
Through investigation, the officer learned that the driver was wanted for being in possession of a stolen dirt bike from Dresden and that he was suspended from driving for unpaid fines.
The man was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
Further investigation revealed that the license plates were not authorized for the vehicle and that there was cannabis in the vehicle.
A 24-year-old Dresden man was charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and drug possession.
He was released pending a future court date of December 10, 2020.
He was additionally charged with driving with cannabis readily available, driving while under suspension, use plate not authorized for the vehicle and driving with no validation on plate.
He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on December 16, 2020.
Woman charged with indecent act
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to the report of a woman, believed to be under the influence of drugs, on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Through investigation, police learned that the woman urinated in front of a business.
When approached by a concerned citizen, the woman yelled and spit at her.
Luckily, the citizen was able to move to avoid being hit.
Officers located the woman a short distance away and she was taken into custody.
The 35-year-old woman of no fixed address has been charged with committing an indecent act and assault.
She remains in police custody this morning.
Executed warrants
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police arrested a woman in Bothwell who was wanted by London Police.
The 60-year-old woman has been held in custody and will be turned over to London Police this morning for court purposes.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police located a woman in Chatham who was wanted for failing to comply with her release conditions.
The 34-year-old woman was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Theft in Harwich Township
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, unknown suspects forced their way into a garage on Blind Fourth Line.
Once inside, the suspects stole fishing gear, set of winter tires and fuel from an outdoor tank.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $3,000.
