Uttering threats charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham.

Police attempted to negotiate with a man in crisis to have him exit the home.

The man refused and officers entered the home just before 7 p.m. to apprehend him.

He was transported to hospital for assistance.

Through investigation, police learned that the man had threatened a family member.

This morning, the 23-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
