Police: B&E, impaired driving, drugs, forcible confinement

Break and enter to storage shed

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime overnight at Maple City Storage an unknown person broke into a storage shed by cutting a lock. 

Reported stolen is $7,550 worth of property including 20″ black rims, Samsung washer and dryer, DeWalt skill saw, miscellaneous tools and other personal belongings.

No suspects have been identified at this time.

Warrant arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In the area of Princess Street, police located a male who had a surety relief warrant for his arrest.

Police arrested and transported the male to CKPS headquarters where he was held for bail.

Bail violation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In the area of Grand Ave. West, police located a male operating a vehicle with a stolen license plate attached.

Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the male for possession of stolen property.

Officers searched the male and the vehicle and located a replica airsoft firearm in the vehicle.

The male was on conditions to not possess replica firearms and was additionally charged.

The male was transported to CKPS headquarters and later released with a court date of November 19, 2020.

Assault, mischief and forcible confinement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In the area of McNaughton Ave. W., Chatham, police responded to a domestic disturbance between a male and female.

The male damaged the female’s property, assaulted her and confined her to her bedroom.

Eventually the female was able to call police.

Police arrived and arrested the male without incident.

The male was transported to headquarters and held for bail.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday morning, an officer on general patrol observed a man driving a silver Chevrolet sedan on Raleigh Street in Chatham.

A query of the license plates revealed that they were registered to a grey Dodge with expired validation.

A traffic stop was initiated on Richmond Street.

The man was arrested for using plates not authorized for the vehicle.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, Fentanyl, cocaine, scale, quantity of cash and cell phone.

Total street value of the seized drugs was estimated at $6,700.

A 39-year-old Chatham man was charged with using plates not authorized for the vehicle and three counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

He has been remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.

His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Collision leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 1 a.m. on Friday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Richmond Street near Jeffery Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police suspected that the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside breath test was administered and the woman failed.

The woman was arrested and transported to OPP headquarters for breath tests.

A 26-year-old Chatham woman was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

She was released pending a future court date of November 6, 2020.

No one was injured as a result of the collision.

Total damage was estimated at $35,000.

The other driver, a 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with making a lane change not in safety.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late Thursday afternoon, a man wanted for failing to attend court last week attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

The 33-year-old Orford Township man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a domestic disturbance earlier this month in Wallaceburg.

The 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with two counts of assault.

He was released pending a future court date of November 20, 2020.

Man charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to the report of a man under the influence of alcohol near the bus depot on Centre Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man who was unable to care for himself.

For his own safety, the man was taken into custody.

The 62-year-old Tilbury man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

He will be released when sober.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around noon on Thursday, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Wellington Street near Centre St in Chatham.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $20,000.

A 70-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Queens Line.

Minor injuries were reported.

Total damage was estimated at $20,000.

A 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.
