Racial slurs lead to hate charges in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday night, police responded to an apartment building in Wallaceburg in regards to a threatening complaint.

Through investigation, police learned that while outside, the man yelled racial slurs towards his neighbour, threatened to assault him and damage his vehicle.

Early Friday morning, the 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with public incitement of hatred and two counts of uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
