Chatham-Kent Victim Services helps people create safety plans

Community safety and well-being is a shared responsibility, Chatham-Kent Police officials say.

Everyone plays a role in ensuring those in our community, especially vulnerable individuals; receive the right response, at the right time and by the right service provider.

The benefits of a holistic community approach strengthens our community and ultimately helps reduce crime, police officials say.

“Here in Chatham-Kent, we are fortunate to have so many community partners engaged with helping us keep our citizens safe and healthy,” stated Chief Gary Conn, in a media release.

“Community safety and well-being takes hard work and collaboration. That’s why our Police Service is proud to partner with community groups, young people and businesses to address local crime and enhance our frontline response.”

This week, the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be highlighting various community partners in an effort to educate everyone as to the services they provide in the community, as part of Crime Prevention Week.

On Monday, the CKPS promoted their partnership with Chatham-Kent Victim Services.

“Did you know that we offer Safety Planning as one of our many programs?” said Kate do Forno, executive director, in a media release.

“Creating a safety plan is the first step in providing a feeling of reassurance and security to help prevent further victimization. If you’ve been a victim of crime or tragedy, we are here to help, heal and provide hope for a safer future.”
