Christmas Lights Tour taking place in Wallaceburg

With the goal of helping the community shine bright this holiday season, the Wallaceburg 2020 Christmas Lights Tour will be taking place next month.

“We’ve all experienced a lot of darkness this year through these uncertain times, so we thought what better way to bring the community together than to light up our community bringing happiness, joy and positivity to the end of 2020,” organizers said in a media release.

“If we shine enough light and open our hearts to the magic of the season, we can usher in 2021 with the strength and faith we will surely need to face anything the new year may bring our way. Christmas is a magical time of year and kids light up inside seeing all the lights and displays. The smiles and joy on their faces says it all.”

Organizers say for 25 days in December, they are asking residents to light up the outside of their places for Christmas and shine the light bright every night for one hour, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. minimum.

“Families (young and old) will be able to walk or drive any night they want to experience, as well as participate in a few social distanced activities throughout the event nights,” organizers say.

“Let’s all forget our worries and troubles for these final days of 2020 and be the little kid inside who can experience the hope in our hearts, community connectedness and magical feelings that Christmas brings. We’re all in this together and together we will overcome.”

Organizers are asking those who want to participate in the tour to register their place no later than November 27, so maps can be created.

“Please note that addresses will not be listed on the map as we are only putting an icon in the general area of the street location where the display will be,” organizers say.

People can register their address by filling out the form, here.

The organizers have also setup a Facebook group, here.

“We are also actively seeking out sponsors from local businesses to help make this a success for our community,” organizers say.

“We appreciate any size donation, including merchandise or gift certificates.”
