Alert Ready issuing test alert at 12:55 p.m.

Residents in Chatham-Kent, and all across Ontario, will receive a test alert at 12:55 p.m. through Alert Ready.

“On November 25, a national test of the Alert Ready system is taking place,” Alert Ready officials say, adding that Alberta and Nunavut are not participating in the test.

“To help improve the overall Alert Ready system, a third party partner is conducting a short survey about the test. Click here if you wish to participate in the survey. Your feedback is important to us and we thank you in advance for your participation.”

Alert Ready officials added: “Please do not call 911 for information about the test. Using 911 for non-emergency calls could delay help for people experiencing real emergencies.”

Alert Ready is Canada’s emergency alerting system.

“Alert Ready delivers critical and potentially life-saving alerts to Canadians through television, radio and LTE-connected and compatible wireless devices,” officials say.

“The Alert Ready system was developed with many partners, including federal, provincial and territorial emergency management officials, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Pelmorex, the broadcasting industry and wireless service providers. Together, these partners work to ensure Canadians receive alerts immediately and know when to take action to stay safe.”

Here is a breakdown of the alerts issued so far in 2020:
