Fundraising efforts continue for Camp Vincent

In the first two weeks of their campaign, the Camp Vincent fundraising team, made up of Lee Salisbury, Jamie Knight and Rebecca Reimer, has raised $20,000 of the $100,000 needed to open the doors of Camp Vincent in 2021.

An anonymous donor is encouraging people to give by matching donations up to $5,000 from now until Christmas.

The generosity of the small businesses and anonymous donors has blown them away, the fundraising team told the Sydenham Current.

Most of the donations up to this point have come from the Dresden and Wallaceburg area and the group will be moving to the Chatham area soon, the fundraising team said.

Officials with the camp say their mission is to provide all children from all walks of life with safe, exhilarating, and memorable experiences which will last a lifetime, regardless of ability, identity, belief, or financial backgrounds.

The camp, located just outside of Bothwell, hosts close to 1,000 children from London to Windsor and Sarnia each summer, many of which require scholarships to attend.

Donors can give online at www.campvincent.com or by mail to 80 King St. E., Chatham, ON N7M 3M8 specifying funds are for Camp Vincent.
