Traffic stop leads to charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg observed a man driving on Dufferin Avenue with an obstructed license plate.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned that the man was suspended from driving for impaired driving and dangerous driving.
A 62-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with driving with an obstructed plate and two counts of driving while prohibited.
He was released pending a future court date of December 30, 2020.
Pair charged following domestic dispute
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man pushed the woman during a verbal argument and assaulted her with a purse.
The 52-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and failing to comply with his release conditions as he was currently bound by conditions to live at another address in Chatham and not to communicate with the woman.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The 52-year-old woman was also arrested as officers learned that the man had been living with the woman since June.
She was charged with facilitating a breach and released pending a future court date of December 30, 2020.
Executed warrants
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man who was wanted for failing to attend court.
A 54-year-old Chatham man was held in custody pending a bail hearing and released with a future court date of January 7, 2021.
Motor vehicle collisions
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Bristol Drive in Chatham.
The woman lost control of her vehicle and struck a light post.
Luckily, she was not injured.
The 49-year-old Chatham woman was charged with careless driving.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on John Street near Chatham Street in Blenheim.
Total damage was estimated at $10,000.
A 54-year-old Blenheim man was charged with failing to yield the right of way.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Countryview Line between Centre Side Road and Lindsay Road.
No one was injured.
A 45-year-old woman was charged with making an unsafe move.
