Woman charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman concealed cosmetics on her person as well as in an empty baby car seat.

The woman exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.

The woman was confronted by staff and the stolen items were recovered.

The woman fled as police were called.

Total value of the theft was estimated at $100.

Officers located the woman a short distance away and she was taken into custody.

The woman was also arrested in connection with a shoplifting complaint at the Real Canadian Superstore earlier this month.

A 41-year-old Walpole Island woman was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of March 1, 2021.

Man charged with driving and drug offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On January 6, 2021 the man was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to operate a motor vehicle.

Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed the man driving westbound on Selton Line.

The man accelerated on Orford Road in an attempt to evade police.

As the officer turned around to further investigate, he found the truck stuck in a snow covered field on Goodbrand Line.

As the officer approached the vehicle, the man was attempting to get the truck out of the snow.

The man was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, heroin and packaging materials.

Total value of the street drugs seized was approximately $10,940.

The 24-year-old Shrewsbury man has been charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and three counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Suspicious vehicle complaint leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious truck on Old Glass Road in Wallaceburg.

Police located the truck and a traffic stop was initiated.

Attached to the truck was a car dolly with a silver Dodge Caliber.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer observed in plain view a clear plastic baggie, containing suspected crack cocaine.

Through investigation, the officer further learned that the Dodge Caliber was stolen from Petrolia last week.

The 35-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with drug possession and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with driving offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On January 23, 2021 the woman was arrested and charged with driving while under suspension as her license is suspended for unpaid fines.

She was released pending a future court date of February 24, 2021.

On January 26, 2021 police received information that the woman was driving again.

Officers located the woman driving in Chatham and a traffic stop was attempted.

The woman fled at a high rate of speed and for public safety reasons, police did not pursue.

Last night, police located the woman and she was arrested.

A 33-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with driving while under suspension, flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

She was released pending a future court date of March 3, 2021.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a woman who was wanted for fraud related offences.

The 33-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a woman who was wanted for breach of probation and failing to attend court.

A 26-year-old woman, of no fixed address, was released pending a future court date of March 1, 2021.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a domestic related investigation.

The 23-year-old Chatham man was released pending a future court date of March 1, 2021.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, a man wanted in connection with a theft investigation attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

A 42-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and released pending a future court date of March 2, 2021.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police arrested a woman who was wanted for breach of probation.

A 24-year-old Chatham woman was released pending a future court date of March 2, 2021.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, an officer observed a man driving on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

A traffic stop was initiated and through investigation, the officer learned that the man was suspended from driving for unpaid fines.

The 39-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with driving while under suspension along with failing to surrender his ownership and insurance for the vehicle.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on March 3, 2021.

Stolen vehicle in Dresden

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the weekend, unknown suspects stole a 2017 black Ford Freestyle from a residence on Centre Street.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates CACX 911.
