The active COVID-19 case count dropped by four and sits at 134 in Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
The total number of COVID-19 cases has increased by 10 and now sits at 1,324 across Chatham-Kent.
CK Public Health officials say eight people remain hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent.
Public health officials announced 14 more recoveries, bringing the total to 1,183.
Overall, there remains six active COVID-19 outbreaks across the community:
– Four institutional outbreaks: Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg, a total of 98 cases have been linked to this outbreak, Copper Terrace in Chatham, one total case, the COVID Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, two total cases, and the Medicine Unit at the CKHA, with 22 total cases.
– One un-named workplace outbreak.
– One congregate living outbreak.
74 active cases are linked to institutional outbreaks in Chatham-Kent, 46 are linked to close contact, seven are unknown, four cases have information pending, two cases are linked to institutional outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent and one case is linked to travel.
Since the pandemic began in March, seven people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
A total of 73,444 tests for the virus have been completed to date.
A total of 404 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Chatham-Kent.
However, a second batch of vaccine has been administered as well, and an updated total is expected to be released on Thursday.
Also announced earlier this week, most communities across Ontario are having the stay-at-home order extended to Tuesday, February 16, 2021, including in Chatham-Kent.
However, a gradual re-opening plan has been outlined by the Province of Ontario.
“Beginning Wednesday, February 17, an updated colour coded system, regulating the various levels of public health measures, will be implemented,” CK Public Health officials posted on social media on Monday.
“As part of their announcement, Ontario updated some regulations around the various colour levels, which can be found here. We are still waiting to learn what colour level Chatham-Kent will return to and the associated measures that will be in place.”
