An out-of-the-cold warming station remains open 24/7 at Hope Haven in Chatham.
“In response to the cold local temperatures the Chatham warming station will remain upon until further notice,” Chatham-Kent Employment & Social Services officials posted on social media.
“The warming centre is currently open 24 hours and is a way to help people who do not have sufficient heat, need protection from the elements, or who may need help connecting to services.”
Chatham-Kent Employment & Social Services officials say their rapid rehousing team is visiting daily to connect with people who may be experiencing homelessness and have no safe place to stay.
“If you or someone you know needs help accessing transportation to the warming centre or are homeless and need a place to sleep, please contact employment and social services at 519-351-8573 or the homeless response line at 519-354-6628 afterhours and on weekends.”
Hope Haven is located at 183 Wellington Street West in Chatham.
