Woman charged operation while impaired

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday, February 26, 2021, police received a call for service on Gregory Line in Chatham regarding a suspicious vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located a 28-year-old woman, asleep in a vehicle that was running.

Through investigation the woman was believed to be impaired.

She was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service for the Impaired by Drug, by the Drug Recognition Expert.

The woman was charged with Operation While Impaired, and later released from custody with a future court date.

Attempt break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday, February 26, 2021 at approximately 9 a.m. police attended the Canadian Tire Store located on Grand Avenue West in Chatham in response to a call of an attempted break and enter.

Sometime overnight, unknown suspects attempted to enter the store, and caused approximately $400 damage to a door.

False 911 calls

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: False 911 calls are continuing to pull officers away from incidents that require their attention.

In the last 24 hours the Chatham-Kent Police Emergency Communication Centre received 19 false 911 calls.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to ensure that everyone knows what number to call should they require police assistance.
