Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association releases new rules

Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Associations (WMHA) officials say all active Wallaceburg Lakers can continue to participate in their current schedule, as some new rules are being implemented.

After a meeting with representatives from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, WMHA officials say the following plan has been approved.

– Hockey schedule remains status quo for March 15 and 16. Same protocols will be in place and all active players (grey zone residents included) are welcome to participate. One parent or guardian per player.

– Chatham-Kent residents continue to participate as previously defined on March 17, 2021.

– Effective March 17, players only from grey zones are allowed in Chatham-Kent arenas.

– No ‘grey zone’ parents or guardians are permitted inside the arena, unless they are a coach or trainer.

“These new rules specifically address adjacent communities that are in a grey zones, while still allowing the players to participate,” WMHA officials said on social media.

“We ask that all members are respectful of these rules, the arena staff and volunteers. We would also like to thank the Municipality of Chatham-Kent for their continued co-operation.”
