Active COVID-19 case count increases to 108, new outbreak at Hudson Manor in Tilbury

The active COVID-19 case count has increased by four and now sits at 108 across Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

The total number of COVID-19 cases increased by 12 and sits at 1,554 across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say one person remains hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent.

Public health officials announced eight new recoveries, increasing the total at 1,436.

A new institutional outbreak was announced by public health officials on Wednesday at Hudson Manor, a retirement home in Tilbury.

Public health officials say the outbreak was declared on Tuesday and involves one total case.

A school outbreak at A.A. Wright Public School in Wallaceburg, involving five total cases, remains active.

An outbreak at an un-named place of worship also remains active.

70 of the active cases across Chatham-Kent are linked to close contact, 11 cases have information pending, 10 are unknown, nine are linked to travel, four cases are linked to the school outbreak, one is linked to outbreaks in community settings, one case is linked to institutional outbreaks in Chatham-Kent, one case is linked to institutional outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent and one case is linked to workplace outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent.

Since the pandemic began last March, 10 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.

A total of 92,241 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Public health officials say 17,611 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered to date.

Beginning on Monday, March 22, 2021, Chatham-Kent moved into the ‘Red-Control’ tier of the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open framework.

“Each colour level will be reassessed every two weeks,” local public health officials say.
