Man charged with break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a break and enter at an apartment complex under construction on Park Avenue West in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man entered the apartment complex and stole several spools of aluminum wiring and Ethernet cable.

The man then stole a garbage bin from a residence on Bristol Drive to move the stolen property.

Officers located the man a short time later on Raleigh Street in possession of the stolen property.

The man was taken into custody and upon being searched incident to arrest was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

A 44 year-old-man, of no fixed address, has been charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and drug possession.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded with a future court date of April 1, 2021.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of man causing a disturbance outside a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man attended a family member’s home, regardless of being on conditions not to attend her residence or communicate with the woman.

The 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and released with a future court date of April 13, 2021.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 16, 2021 a man was released from court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to associate with a specific Wallaceburg woman or operate a motor vehicle.

Last night, as a result of a traffic stop on Wallace Street, the man was found to be driving the vehicle in the company of the woman.

The man was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of suspected Fentanyl, methamphetamine and oxycodone.

The 41-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with driving while under suspension, two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and three counts of drug possession.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man entered the store and concealed approximately $100 worth of items in his coat.

The man left the store without paying for the stolen items.

Police located the man a short distance and he was taken into custody.

The man was also arrested in connection with another shoplifting incident at the Real Canadian Superstore that occurred last week and further arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The 51-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 22, 2021 the man attended Walmart in Chatham regardless of being on conditions not to attend the store and stole two bottles of Brisk Iced Tea.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested.

A 23-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply with his release conditions, theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of April 21, 2021.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of Community Patrol conducted traffic enforcement on Longwoods Road, in Wabash, South Buxton and North Buxton.

Twenty-five tickets were issued to motorists for various Highway Traffic Act offences.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that driving is a privilege and with that comes responsibility.
