COVID-19 outbreak declared over at A.A. Wright in Wallaceburg

The COVID-19 outbreak at A.A. Wright Public School in Wallaceburg has been declared over.

School officials say the Chatham-Kent Public Health notified the Lambton Kent District School Board on April 1, 2021 that Dr. David Colby, Medical Officer of Health for Chatham-Kent, had made the declaration.

“The Lambton Kent District School Board appreciates the ongoing partnership and support of Chatham-Kent Public Health,” school officials said on their website.

“Students, staff and families are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow the health and safety protocols in place to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19, including completing the daily school screening assessment tool. Together, we will continue to support a safe operation of schools.​”

School officials added that there are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 that involve a student or staff member in a school setting.

CK Public Health officials say the outbreak was officially declared over on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

The school outbreak had originally been declared on March 19, 2021 and involved five total cases.
