Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints.

On April 14, 2021 at approximately 4 p.m. police attended on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

The 39-year-old man of Chatham was arrested and released with conditions.

He is required to appear in court on May 12, 2021.

Two men arrested after altercation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested two men following an altercation on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham.

At approximately 4:20 p.m. on April 14, 2021, police were called to a report of a disturbance in a parking lot.

Through investigation it was determined that the men had a confrontation which resulted in one of the men being spat on and the other one having a tooth knocked out.

A 43-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

In addition, A 47-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.

Both men were released on undertakings with conditions and are required to attend court on May 12, 2021.

Home renovations and improvements scam

Several incidents have been reported across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent in relation to home renovations and improvements scams.

If you have someone that comes knocking on your door advising that you need a new roof, driveway or some other type of home renovation please use caution.

The scammer may ask you to provide them with cash upfront in order for them to purchase supplies.

At that point, they leave and never come back – your money is gone.

Or, once the work is started, the suspects may try to convince you that more work had to be done thus increasing the overall price.

If you determine that renovations/improvements need to be done to your property always get two to three estimates.

Check with your family and friends to see if they can recommend a qualified contractor.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation.

On April 13, 2021, the 26-year-old man of Queen Street, Chatham was arrested on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

The man was released on an undertaking with conditions and is required to attend court on May 7, 2021.

Man arrested for take motor vehicle without consent

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service have arrested and charged a man after he was found to be driving a stolen vehicle.

On April 13, 2021 at approximately 11:00 a.m. an officer on patrol observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Prince Albert Road in Chatham.

A traffic stop was conducted and through investigation it was determined that the man was driving a stolen vehicle.

On April 7, 2021 the man was released from court with one of his conditions being not to have care or control of a motor vehicle.

The 31-year-old man from St. Thomas has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of fail to comply with a release order.

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
