Virtual author talk with Sheena Kamal set for May 27

To celebrate the grand finale of the 2021 CK Reads program, Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) will be hosting bestselling author, Sheena Kamal, for a virtual author talk on Thursday, May 27 at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

CK Reads started in 2016 and has grown steadily each year thanks to the support from the community.

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of CKPL’s CK Reads program two titles have been chosen for this year: ‘The Lost Ones’ and ‘Fight Like a Girl’ by Sheena Kamal.

Both titles are available at all 11 CKPL branches and online in both ebook and audiobook format.

‘The Lost Ones’, is book one in Kamal’s Nora Watts private investigator series set in Vancouver.

In ‘The Lost Ones’ Nora and her dog Whisper set out to find the daughter Nora gave up for adoption 15 years earlier.

Lovers of Young Adult fiction are also encouraged to participate in this year’s CK Reads program by checking out Kamal’s ‘Fight Like a Girl’, which tells the story of Trisha who turns to Muay Thai kickboxing to break the cycle of violence that has affected her family for generations.

Sheena Kamal holds an HBA in Political Science from the University of Toronto.

She was awarded a TD Canada Trust scholarship for community leadership and activism around the issue of homelessness.

She has also worked as a researcher on crime and investigative journalism for the film and television industry.

Her debut novel, ‘The Lost Ones’ was inspired by her experience.
