Man arrested twice in last 24 hours
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning around 9 a.m. police responded to the report of damage to Vertec Contractors on National Road in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that unknown suspects removed copper from their scissor lift, causing about $5,000 damage.
With the assistance of video surveillance, police identified the man responsible.
Shortly after 4 p.m. a 22-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
He was released with several conditions pending a future court date of July 14, 2021.
Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a break and enter at Maple City Mini Storage on Queens Line.
As officers were investigating, an alarm was reported at the Esso Gas Station on Bloomfield Road.
Upon police arrival, officers confirmed that a break and enter had just occurred.
At this time, police received information that a suspicious person was observed in the area of a hotel on Bloomfield Road.
K9 Helix was called to the scene and tracked the man hiding in a nearby dumpster.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of break and enter, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $,5000 and breaching his curfew.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man charged with impaired driving
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of an erratic driver in the area of Base Line near Wallaceburg.
Officers quickly located the truck in the driveway of a residence in Wallaceburg.
Upon speaking to the man at his residence about the traffic complaint, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.
He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
A 62-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
He was released pending a future court date of June 15, 2021.
Police believe the man may have forced another vehicle off the roadway.

Man charged with failing to comply
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 27, 2020 a man was released from custody with several conditions.
One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Chatham woman.
Yesterday afternoon, police received information that the man had been communicating with the woman throughout April and May via email and telephone calls.
Last night, the 60-year-old Dover Township man was arrested and charged with 11 counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Pair charged following domestic disturbance
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend.
The 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.
He was released pending a future court date of June 18, 2021.
The 35-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with facilitating a breach as she attended the man’s home, knowing that he was currently on conditions not to communicate with her.
She was released pending a future court date of June 18, 2021.
Fail to remain collision
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of McNaughton Avenue East and Victoria Avenue in Chatham.
A grey Dodge caravan was struck by a dark grey pick-up truck that failed to remain at the scene of the collision.
The truck was last seen travelling southbound on Victoria Avenue towards Grand Avenue.
The truck should have damage to the front passenger side.
Police are looking to identify the truck or driver.

Mischief in Chatham
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, shortly after 6 a.m. police responded to a mischief complaint at Coca-Cola on Park Avenue East as unknown suspects smashed a window to the business.
Police do not believe entry was gained or anything was stolen.
Total damage has been estimated at $2,000.

Theft from motor vehicle
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 4 a.m. and 11 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a vehicle that was parked in the car pool lot on Merlin Road near Queens Line, causing about $1,000 damage to two windows.
Once inside, the suspects stole a set of golf clubs, two pairs of golf shoes, a GPS system, ball hitch and tie down straps.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $2,500.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police recovered a laser rangefinder and tripod near Stewart Park in Tilbury.
Police would like to return the property to its rightful owner.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on New Scotland Line near Hill Road.
No one was injured.
Total damage was estimated at $8,000.
A 62-year-old Howard Township man was charged with making an unsafe lane change.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a three vehicle collision on Queens Line between Jeannettes Creek Road and Sinclair Road.
Minor injuries were reported.
Total damage was estimated at $25,000.
A 23-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.
