Woman charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman had concealed 15 eyeliner pencils on her person.

Total value of the theft was estimated at $200.

The 27-year-old woman, of no fixed address, was arrested and chaarged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was also arrested on several outstanding warrants.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to the area of Croton Line and Dawn Mills Road, just outside of Dresden, in regards to an erratic driver.

An officer on general patrol located the truck on Croton Line around 7:30 p.m. parked on the side of the road.

The truck was still running as the officer stopped and approached the driver.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 26-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of August 4, 2021.

Man charged with careless driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 5 a.m. this morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Merlin Road near Coutts Line.

Through investigation, police suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside breath test was administered and the man registered a reading over 0.05.

The 54-year-old Sarnia man was issued a 3-day license suspension and charged with careless driving.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000 damage.

His vehicle was towed from the scene.
