Special weather statement issued, as significant rainfall is expected

A special weather statement has been issued in Chatham-Kent, as significant rainfall is expected through Saturday.

Environment Canada officials say total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm by Saturday morning are expected for far southwestern Ontario, including Windsor and Chatham.

“A low pressure system tracking just south of Lake Erie will bring a prolonged period of showers to the area,” forecasters say.

“A few embedded thunderstorms may give way to locally higher amounts.”

For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry District office, Environment Canada officials say.
