Lambton OPP: Boater charged after colliding with dock, impaired driving

Lambton OPP officials allege: On August 1, 2021 at 3:10 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle being driven erratically on Lasalle Line, Enniskillen Township.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage.

A roadside screening device was then administered. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples over the legal limit.

A 19-year-old Plympton-Wyoming woman has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 13, 2021.

Boater arrested after colliding with a dock

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 31, 2021 at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified by an off-duty officer of an impaired boater in the Fawn Island Canal.

The off-duty officer observed the boater collide with a nearby dock while operating the boat with multiple young passengers onboard.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the individual was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested by the off-duty officer and transported to a nearby boat launch where custody was transferred to on-duty Lambton OPP officers.

The driver was then transported to an OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.

A 52-year-old London man has been charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired and,
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 13, 2021.

Two drivers arrested at single traffic stop

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 31, 2021 at 10:30 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed two parties leave a licenced establishment on Main Street in Grand Bend.

The two individuals, who were displaying signs of impairment, mounted a single E-bike and began driving away.

Upon seeing officers, the two swapped positions on the E-bike.

Officers stopped the vehicle, having now observed both individuals driving, it became apparent that both had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered.

Both individuals were arrested for impaired operation.

A 42-year-old Lambton Shores man has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

A 27-year-old London man has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired,
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand,
  • Failure to comply with release order,
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code (three counts) and,
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

The Lambton Shores man has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 13, 2021.

The London man was held in custody following a bail hearing on August 1, 2021 and is scheduled to reappear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 3, 2021.
