A section of Highway 402 westbound in Lambton County remains closed after unsafe road conditions were reported Wednesday afternoon.
The Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded shortly after 4:30 p.m. on July 1 to a report of unsafe road conditions on the highway.
As a result, Highway 402 westbound is closed between Oil Heritage Road and Mandaumin Road in the Municipality of Plympton-Wyoming.
Police are directing westbound motorists to exit at Oil Heritage Road and follow London Line to Mandaumin Road before re-entering the highway.
The closure is expected to remain in place for an extended period while crews repair the road surface. Police are asking motorists to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
The Lambton OPP thanked the public for its patience and said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
