Ruth Kennedy

Ruth Isabelle Kennedy, a resident of Fairfield Park, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 12, 2021 at the age of 90 years.
Ruth was born on January 30, 1931 to loving parents Harold Simpson and Idella McMath. She was raised on the family farm in Chatham Gore, now the home of Ron and Dawn Mudford. Ruth had an older brother George, who died in 1945 and an older sister, Irene who died as an infant in 1918.
As a young woman Ruth worked at the TD bank on the south side of Wallaceburg. She met the dashing William Donald Kennedy when he came from Guelph to work on the neighbouring farm for Jock Appleton. They were married in 1952 and moved to Campbellville where they owned their first farm. Here, their two oldest sons were born, Douglas Harold (wife: Suzanne Kuchta) and David Alexander (Sandy) (Wife: Karen Lapoint).
They sold their farm near Guelph and purchased a farm from Ruth’s uncle near Tupperville. Here, their youngest son, Donald Scott (wife: Tekla Lampman) was born. Douglas and Suzanne currently reside on the family farm.
Together Ruth and Don spent many years with their boys involved in the local scouting organization.
They built their dream home on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron on Emmerton Beach. Here they retired and lived their dream sharing this glorious location with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends. Scott and Tekla currently reside here. Together Ruth and Don maintained the local Rotary flower gardens in Kincardine for many years and faithfully attended the Kincardine Pipe Band parade and concerts every Saturday night during the summer with their Newfoundland dog, Oreo.
Ruth had a great love for cats. A furry friend was a constant companion until her latter years.
Ruth’s greatest love was her grandchildren, Marcy (Chris Saylor), Ian (Stephanie Vanstone), Janine (Tim Turnbull), Carolyn (Derek Rickman), Bradley (Jamie Melon), Kristina (Mike Simpson) and Jeffrey (Kayla Boyer). Spoiling was Ruth’s game and her grandchildren were the joyful recipients.
Ruth is also survived by her great grandchildren, Grady Turnbull, Amelia Turnbull, Kaley Rickman, Blake Rickman, Oliver Simpson, Evelyn Simpson and Ezra Kennedy.
Ruth had a loving smile for everyone, she enjoyed life, humour and music and was known to pull a prank on family members. She was well loved and loved well. She set a great example for her family and friends of a woman living her faith by showing love. She will be deeply missed.
A private family service will take place under the care of HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg 519.627.3231. Ruth will be laid to rest at Kincardine Cemetery. If you so wish, donations in her memory to the Zion United Church (Tupperville) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated. Condolences and stories may be shared with her family on her tribute page at www.cavanaghfuneralhome.ca.
