Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 43-year-old Chatham man faces impaired driving and other charges after a man was struck by a vehicle following a collision on Longwoods Road, west of Thamesville, on Sunday.
Chatham-Kent police responded at about 4:32 p.m. to a report of a fail-to-remain collision. Police say a vehicle had collided with another vehicle near a construction zone. A 33-year-old Chatham man then got out of his vehicle and was struck by the accused driver, who fled the scene.
Officers later found the accused at a residence in Thamesville, where police say he failed an Approved Screening Device test. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further testing, where breath samples were obtained and the readings exceeded the legal limit.
The man was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident, and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg per 100 mL of blood. He was later released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 2.
