Man charged with assault police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 7:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a threatening complaint at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man, threatened a woman known to him, over the phone.

Officers located the man on Queen Street riding his bicycle enroute to the woman’s house.

The man was in possession of a knife and bat.

As police stopped the man, he held the knife in a threatening manner towards the officers.

In an effort to safely effect the arrest, pepper spray was utilized and the man was taken into custody.

While at police headquarters, the man continued to be combative and spat on two officers.

The 37-year-old Chatham man has been charged with uttering threats, two counts of being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of assault police.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 13, 2021 the man was released from Court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Bothwell woman or attend her residence.

Last night, the man attended the woman’s home and began yelling at her.

Officers located the man inside the woman’s residence and he was arrested.

The 47-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and enter in Howard Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning around 6:30 p.m. a homeowner on Shewburg Road awoke to find an unknown man running from his garage carrying a bag full of stolen tools.

The suspect fled on a red and white dirt bike that was hidden in close proximity to the residence.

Upon fleeing the scene, the suspect dropped the stolen tools.

The tools were recovered and returned to the homeowner.

The dirt bike was last seen travelling southbound on Scane Road.

Stolen motorcycle in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the past month, unknown suspects stole a black 1981 Yamaha 850 Midnight Special motorcycle from a residence on Hall Street North.
