Active COVID-19 case count at 51, eight hospitalized, vaccine clinics available in C-K

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

A total of eight people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent remain hospitalized.

“Of those eight in hospital, zero are fully vaccinated,” public health officials said on social media.

“CK Public Health is hoping for a full recovery for these eight residents. If you have still not received your COVID-19 vaccine, please consider attending one of our upcoming vaccination clinics. The best time to receive your vaccine was when it was first made eligible to you. The second best time, is now.”

Public health officials say a total of 136,616 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 72,715 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 66,490 people 12+ have received two doses.

Tuesday, August 31

– Downtown Chatham Centre 10-4 p.m.
(walk-ins up till 3:30 p.m., booked appointments at GetYourShotCK.ca, Pfizer)

Wednesday, September 1

– Chatham-Kent Health Alliance 2-8 p.m.

(walk-ins up till 7:30 p.m., booked appointments at GetYourShotCK.ca, Pfizer)

Thursday, September 2

– KSR International in Ridgetown 2-7 p.m.

The active COVID-19 case count sits at 51, one less than on Monday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,031 across Chatham-Kent, five more than on Monday.

A total of 1,963 cases have been resolved.

A total of 22 cases are linked to close contact, 12 cases have information pending, nine cases are unknown, seven cases are outbreak related and one case is linked to travel.

CK Public Health officials say a community outbreak at an un-named congregate living setting remains active.

This outbreak includes eight cases in total and was first declared on August 25, 2021.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

A total of 126,049 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Since the pandemic began last March, a total of 17 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
