From October 12–29, Tulip Tree Needlearts Guild celebrates its 20th anniversary with a major needlework exhibit at the Chatham Capitol Theatre (Rotary Lounge) located at 238 King St West, Chatham, ON. The exhibition features the Guild’s latest community project, the Baldoon Tapestry, which was recently accepted for inclusion in the international Scottish Diaspora Tapestry project.

The 37 Canadian Tapestries of the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry project, which collectively pay tribute to the Scottish influence on Canadian history, will be travelling to Ontario thanks to a collaborative effort of CK Arts + Culture, Tulip Tree Needlearts guild and the City of Guelph Museums.
The Baldoon Tapestry honours the settlement of Baldoon, near present-day Wallaceburg, which was sponsored by Lord Selkirk to settle people from the Highlands of Scotland who had been forced off the land. It celebrates the 102 brave highlanders who sailed to Canada in 1804 to settle in Baldoon in what is now Dover township in the region of Chatham-Kent. The tapestry was designed by a local artist, Katherine McFadden Stinson and stitched by members of the Tulip Tree Needlearts Guild and interested members of the public.
