Active COVID-19 case count at 115, eight total outbreaks declared

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Monday, September 27, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case count has increased to 115, three more than on Friday.

Public health officials say 70.9% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 9.7% are unknown, 9.2% are fully vaccinated, 8.7% are partially vaccinated and 1.8% are not yet protected. These figures are as of September 18, 2021, public health officials say.

A total of seven people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent are hospitalized, one less than on Friday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,413 across Chatham-Kent, 31 more than on Friday.

A total of 2,280 cases have been resolved.

A total of 69 active cases are linked to close contact, 21 cases are unknown, 17 cases are outbreak related and eight cases have information pending.

Public health officials say there are eight current outbreaks across Chatham-Kent, two more than on Friday:

– An outbreak was declared at Eben-Ezer Christian School in Chatham on September 26, 2021. This outbreak involves two total cases.

– An outbreak was declared at McNaughton Area Public School in Chatham on September 25, 2021. This outbreak involves three total cases.

– An outbreak at Copper Terrace, a long-term care home in Chatham, remains active and involves three active cases.

– An outbreak at Tilbury District High School remains active and involves two cases.

– A school outbreak at Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden remains active and involves five total cases.

– A school outbreak at Dresden Area Central School remains active and involves two cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named workplace remains active and involves three cases.

– An outbreak at Praise Fellowship Church, located at 165 Park Avenue East in Chatham, remains active and involves 24 cases.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 144,436 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 76,702 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 70,648 people 12+ have received two doses.

CK Public Health officials say several vaccine clinics are scheduled in Chatham in the first part of October:

A total of 132,466 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Since the pandemic began in March of 202, a total of 18 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
