Active COVID-19 case count rises to 73 in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Monday, October 25, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case count rose to 73, 12 more than on Friday.

Public health officials say 72.6% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 14.4% are fully vaccinated, 7.5% are partially vaccinated, 3.5% are unknown and 1.9% are not yet protected. These figures are as of October 16, 2021, public health officials say.

A total of two people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent remain hospitalized.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,718 across Chatham-Kent, 30 more than on Friday.

A total of 2,623 cases have been resolved.

A total of 47 active cases are linked to close contact, 17 cases are unknown and nine cases have information pending.

Public health officials say three outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent:

– An outbreak at an un-named congregate living setting was declared on October 22, 2021 and involved six total cases.

– An unnamed workplace outbreak remains actives and involves nine cases.

– The outbreak at Kid’s Connection Daycare in Chatham remains active and involves three cases.

The outbreak at McNaughton Area Public School in Chatham was declared over on October 22, 2021.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 149,361 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 78,638 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 73,782 people 12+ have received two doses.

Since the pandemic began in March of 2020, a total of 22 Chatham-Kent residents have died from COVID-19.
