Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a local motel in Chatham in regards to an assault complaint.

Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted a woman, known to him, following a verbal argument.

The 42-year-old Chatham man was located a short time later and taken into custody.

He was charged with assault and released pending a future court date of November 24, 2021.

Arrest leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 31, 2021 the man was released from Court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence at all times, except for medical emergencies or with his surety and not to possess any drugs.

Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed the man riding his bicycle alone on Queen Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The man was taken into custody and found to be in possession of suspected cocaine after being searched incident to arrest.

A 22-year-old Chatham man was charged with drug possession and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was released pending a future court date of November 25, 2021.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Tilbury.

Through investigation, police learned that the man entered the residence of a woman, known to him, without being invited or given permission.

Once inside the residence, the man assaulted the woman, regardless of being on conditions not to communicate with her or attend her home.

Officers located the man a short time later and he was taken into custody.

The 26-year-old Tilbury man was charged with break and enter and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of Community Patrol conducted traffic enforcement on Longwoods Road in Chatham and Pine Crest Road in Harwich Township.

Eight motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
