Dresden holding ‘Neighbourhood Cup’ Christmas light competition

Dresden is once again holding their ‘Neighbourhood Cup’ Christmas light competition this holiday season.

“The news you’ve all been waiting for… the Neighbourhood Cup is back,” the Dresden Shines group posted on their Facebook page.

“What’s better than a little intra-town fun friendly competition? Get your neighbours together and illuminate. Rumour has it that last year’s winners – Candy Cane Lane- have already started plotting their strategy to win it all again.”

Dresden Shines officials say participation is open to all personal residences within the boundaries of the Former Town of Dresden in Chatham-Kent and new this year, rural entries will be accepted in photo format.

There is a minimum of four residences per team and no maximum number.

The entry deadline is Thursday, November 25, 2021 at 5 p.m. by email to neighbourhoodcup@dresden.ca or drop off at McKellar’s Flowers and Gifts.

“Contest is for exterior decorations only, including decorations in windows that are visible from the exterior,” Dresden Shines officials say.

Judging criteria will include:

– Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations

– Storyline or theme

– Display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.

– Overall presentation

“The winning team will be announced on the Dresden Shines Facebook page by Monday, December 6, 2021.”

Full rules are available at McKellar’s Flowers and Gifts, at www.dresden.ca or by visiting the Dresden Shines social media pages.
