Ride CK OnRequest moving to a new mobile app

Ride CK OnRequest is moving to a new mobile app.

Beginning Wednesday, December 1 riders should request their on-demand public transit trip through Ride CK OnRequest Transit app, now available for download in the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

OnRequest public transit service provides shared ride trips between any two bus stops in Chatham between 7:15 p.m. to 12:45 a.m., Monday to Friday, after scheduled fixed route service ends.

“We’ve heard the public’s feedback during the successful OnRequest pilot phase which began in March 2020,” said Ann-Marie Millson, Manager, Engineering (Transit and Capital Asset Management), in a media release.

“Municipal Council has now permanently extended this service and we’re happy to incorporate some of the feedback we’ve received into this new app.”

Demand-responsive – or on demand – transit was identified in Chatham-Kent’s transit strategy, Driving Forward, as the preferred service delivery model for public transit in the Municipality during times or in areas with lower ridership.

Scheduled fixed route transit continues to service Chatham during the daytime when ridership levels are higher.

“The new platform will also prepare us for future expansion of OnRequest in the Municipality.”

Riders without access to the app can continue to call 519-436-3233 to book their OnRequest trip up to two days in advance.

A new booking web portal is also expected to be available to ridership in the new year.

Service information is available at www.rideck.ca/onrequest.
