The 2022 Municipality of Chatham-Kent budget process will get underway on Wednesday, January 12 when the draft municipal budget will be presented to Council.
That marks the beginning of a political review process that will include several opportunities for public comment, Municipal officials say.
All budget meetings will be broadcast live on YourTV as well as live streamed on the YourTV YouTube channel.
Community consultations will be broadcast on the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Facebook Live feed.
Opening night is set for Wednesday, January 12 at 6 p.m., when the 2022 budget will be tabled.
Groups or organizations that wish to request funding must submit a written request by email to ckfps@chatham-kent.ca before 12 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022.
Groups or organizations wishing to provide comment on the municipal budget can submit a written deputation by email to ckfps@chatham-kent.ca before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Community consultations will also take place.
A brief summary of the draft budget will be presented by administration at the beginning of each event.
Two opportunities for public input have been scheduled as follows:
– Wednesday, January 19 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
– Thursday, January 20 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Budget committee deliberations will be held: Wednesday, January 26; Thursday, January 27, and Tuesday, February 1 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
If more time is required, February 2 and 3 have also been set aside.
Written deputations of up to five minutes in length are welcome each evening.
