Police: Fentanyl seized after a bust in Chatham, assault, traffic stop leads to charges

Police execute search warrant in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Wednesday, February 16, 2022 members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit, with assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at an address on Mary Street in Chatham.

Approximately $10,400 worth of fentanyl was seized.

Canadian currency, a set of digital scales and packaging materials were also seized.

A 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with:

– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)

– Fail to Comply with Release Conditions

He was held pending a bail hearing.

A 29-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with:

– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)

She was released pending a future court date of March 24, 2022.

Traffic stop leads to multiple charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, shortly after 7 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on Reaume Street in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, the driver, a 54-year-old Chatham man, was arrested and charged under the Cannabis Control Act.

He was released pending a future court date.

The passenger, a 50-year-old Chatham man, was arrested and charged with obstruct police, possession of prohibited weapon, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and four counts of failing to comply with release conditions.

He was held pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with assault causing bodily harm

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly before 10 p.m. last night police responded to a disturbance at a Grand Avenue West residence in Chatham.

Through investigation police learned the man had assaulted a woman and a man.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm.

He was held pending a bail hearing.
