Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 38-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaching court-ordered conditions and fleeing from police at a high rate of speed last week.
Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Wallaceburg on Oct. 2 at approximately 10:36 a.m. The investigation revealed the man was irate and screaming while in a vehicle parked in the driveway, and that he was in breach of court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from attending the residence or communicating with individuals there.
Officers instructed the man to exit the vehicle, but he failed to comply and drove off at a high rate of speed, travelling southbound on Chestnut Drive through the neighbourhood at approximately 80 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on three counts of failure to comply with a release order, one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and one count of flight from a peace officer.
On Oct. 3, officers observed the accused travelling northbound on St. Clair Road in Chatham. He was arrested and transported to South West Detention Centre, where he remained in custody until his next scheduled video court appearance on Monday.
