Canada’s Agriculture Day being celebrated with a food drive

Canada’s Agriculture Day in 2022 is Tuesday, February 22 – a day to celebrate the business of Canadian Agriculture.

This is an opportunity for producers to share their pride and help consumers draw a closer connection to where their food comes from and the people who produce it.

Each year the Kent Federation of Agriculture (KFA) and the community celebrates this day in a special way.

The KFA is again coordinating local food donations to both The Salvation Army and Outreach for Hunger in Chatham-Kent.

KFA officials say monetary donations will be put towards food products such as ground pork for both organizations.

“Everyone is welcome to participate by donating to the local Salvation Army or Outreach for Hunger in Chatham-Kent,” organizers said in a media release.

“We are thankful for all the farmers, businesses and others choosing to help out the local food banks on this day recognizing Agriculture in Canada.”

Curbside donations will be accepted at The Salvation Army, 46 Orangewood Blvd., Chatham, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, participation on site is limited and all safety protocols will be in place.
