Canadian Army Reserve personnel from 31 Canadian Brigade Group will move to Cedar Springs Range and Training Area near Chatham to conduct a winter training exercise on February 26, 2022.

Activities will include multiple vehicles moving through the Chatham-Kent area to the training grounds, Andrew McLaughlin, Public Affairs Officer for the 31 Canadian Brigade Group, in a media release.
“All activities will happen throughout the day on Saturday. Members of the public may see military vehicles on the following major highways: Hwy 401, 402, Hwy 3 and throughout Sarnia, London, Chatham, Windsor and surrounding areas south of Hwy 401 to include Huffman Corners and Blenheim.”
McLaughlin said those participating will be issued unloaded weapons, and no ammunition will be present.
“They will remain with their vehicles, except for any required maintenance and resupply,” McLaughlin added.
“This important training is being conducted in order to maintain and further develop the skills of Canadian Army Reserve soldiers in Armoured Reconnaissance operations, and to practice discipline, safety and effectiveness while operating specific vehicle platforms in cold weather conditions.”
All of the soldiers participating will be practicing enhanced Force Health Protection Measures based on, and in addition to Public Health guidelines, including wearing masks, extra sanitizing of equipment and hands, and physical distancing where possible, McLaughlin said.
All measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience to those in the area.
“The public are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles, and are thanked in advance for their understanding and co-operation.”
