The light of our lives, Stephen Michael George Bilodeau and his zest for life will be lovingly remembered forever.
He passed away too soon, but not before touching the lives of so many.
With his family by his side, he gained his golden wings on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the age of 59.
Steve is the son of Marie and the late Gilles ‘Gil’ Bilodeau, and beloved son-in-law of Norris and the late Judy Hearn.
Husband, “Darlin”, and soulmate of Cheryl Bilodeau.
Loving father, best friend and mentor of Chantelle Seton (Jonathan), Tyler Bilodeau (Lauren) and Chelsea Lapointe (Dillon).
Dear Grampie “G” of Brantley, Sadie and Stephen.
Brother of Paul (the late Jackie) Bilodeau and Linda Salisbury (John).
Brother-in-law of Jody Daniel (Trevor) and Tammy Apter.
He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews: Matthew, (Leigh-Anne), Michael S, Danielle (Dan), Michael B (Jillian), Makayla (Ryan), Cole and Chloe.
Steve was an electrical contractor by trade and an entrepreneur at heart.
Beginning his career with his father and brother with Gil and Sons Limited, he later founded mPower; a commercial electrical business, Eternity’s Touch; an innovative fingerprint jewelry business catering to the funeral profession and Bildco; a local construction company.
Although Steve’s dash on this earth was short, he lived every second filling it with as much life and love as possible.
There was no question about Steve’s love for his family, he always made sure to say ‘I love you’ at every opportunity.
He had an unparalleled love with his “bride” Cheryl, his true soulmate.
They enjoyed nothing more than each other’s company.
They spent their time “glamping” in their fifth wheel traveling North America, seeing the views and taking in many country concerts.
They took their adventures international to many destinations including one of Steve’s favourite places – Tuscany.
Here he enjoyed his favourite foods, spaghetti bolognese, red meat, and red wine.
They loved their ‘oasis’ on Mitchell’s Bay, and spent summers blasting music and ‘ripping’ their jet-skis across the waterways, and competing for who could take the best picture of his favourite sunset views.
A family man to the core, his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
From work to home, he enjoyed every minute.
He especially looked forward to their Sunday Funday traditions.
Whether snuggled in during winter to watch movies, or enjoying time by the water there was no shortage of good food, stories and laughter.
Steve wore the title of ‘Grampie’ with the highest honour, and enjoyed golf cart rides, many ‘airplane rides’, and hours spent “watering the driveway”.
He loved to snuggle his ‘babies’ and give them all sweet nicknames, just as he did for his own kids.
Steve was born and raised in Wallaceburg, and was passionate about supporting his community.
He was involved in many initiatives to stimulate and grow his beloved hometown.
A philanthropist through and through, he always was extremely generous, and put others needs before his own.
Although Steve didn’t take much time for himself, he always enjoyed a good game of golf.
As a scratch golfer in his teen years, Steve enjoyed golfing a round with his “bride”, with his boys on Thursday, and always looked forward to his yearly Golf Trip with his friends.
No time with you ever would have been long enough, we were blessed to have you as ours, and if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
We know your love is like the wind, we can’t see it but we feel it.
Family and friends are invited for visitation at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday.
A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Wallaceburg on Friday, April 1 at 11 AM.
