The COVID-19 outbreak has been declared over at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Medicine B Unit.
Also, the hospital has opened up their outdoor visiting areas at the Wallaceburg and Chatham sites.
Medicine Unit outbreak declared over
CKHA officials say the COVID-19 outbreak declared in the Medicine B Unit at the Chatham Site on March 28, 2022 has been declared over by CK Public Health.
CKHA’s Complex Continuing Care (CCC) Unit (4th floor) remains in active outbreak.
“CKHA would like to thank CK Public Health for their guidance and support during this outbreak, and the hospital’s staff and physicians for their continued commitment to providing safe, high quality care under these difficult circumstances,” hospital officials said in a media release.
“Infection Prevention and Control measures will remain in place across the organization and CKHA will continue to review and monitor the impact of the pandemic on its operations. CKHA’s Essential Visitor and Care Partner Access policy remains in Phase 3 “Green.” With the outbreak declared over, Medicine B will revert back to Phase 3 “Green” restrictions.”
See CKHA’s website for further details on visiting restrictions, hospital officials added.
Questions or concerns about visitor restrictions can be directed to the primary nurse and/or Patient Relations.
“CKHA is reminding the community that the hospital remains a safe place to receive care,” CKHA officials say.
“If you are experiencing an emergent acute care need, please do not hesitate to dial 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department.”
Outdoor visiting areas open
Effective Friday, April 15, CKHA officials say outdoor space for visiting with patients is open.
“This will be available at both Chatham and Wallaceburg sites,” hospital officials say.
“Both sites will offer visiting outdoor from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week (weather permitting), for eligible patients on all inpatient units. The care team in collaboration with the patient and care partner(s) will determine if the patient is safe to participate in outdoor visits. Patients who are permitted outdoor visiting will be accompanied to and from the outdoor visiting space by their care partner and can have additional visitors outdoors at that time.”
Visitors, care partners and patients will be asked to remain masked and distanced during their visit and to refrain from consuming food and drink, hospital officials say.
Patients and care partners who wish to learn more may contact the Patient & Family Communication Liaison Office by telephone: 519.352.6400 x 6917 or email: PFCL@ckha.on.ca.
Availability is subject to spacing and seating.
