65th & 66th COVID-19 deaths reported in Chatham-Kent

Two more COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Chatham-Kent.

Jeff Moco, a spokesperson for the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit, told the Sydenham Current the latest deaths were a woman in her 80’s and a woman in her 90’s.

A total of 66 Chatham-Kent residents have died from the virus since the pandemic began in March of 2020, public health officials say.

CK Public Health officials say 215 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, increasing the total number of cases to 7,886 since the pandemic began.

A total of seven people are currently hospitalized for COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, public health officials added.

The current seven day rolling average case count (average number per day) sits at 28.

Public health officials say nine outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent:

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on April 14, 2022, involves two cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on April 13, 2022, involves two cases.

– An outbreak at Village on the Thames in Chatham, declared on April 13, 2022, involves 13 cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on April 12, 2022, involves four cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on April 12, 2022, involves nine cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on April 12, 2022, involves five cases.

– An outbreak at Copper Terrace in Chatham, declared on April 11, 2022, involves 35 cases.

– An outbreak at the Continuing Care Unit of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, declared on April 8, 2022, involves 10 cases.

– An outbreak at the Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg, declared on April 5, 2022, involves 37 cases.

A total of 218,002 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 85,117 people 5+ have received at least one dose, 82,162 people 5+ have received two doses and 50,227 people 5+ have received three doses.
