The CK Arts Council has opened applications for its 2026 Emerging Youth Artist Scholarship, aimed at supporting local students pursuing post-secondary studies in the arts and culture sector.
The program will award one $2,000 scholarship to a graduating high school student from Chatham-Kent.
“2026 marks the third year of the CK Arts Council awarding this scholarship,” says Laurie Langford, CKAC Board Chair.
“The importance of supporting emerging artists through programs like ours is foundational,” says Langford. “It ensures the development of careers, and the creative sector’s future. Students working and studying in all disciplines and mediums are encouraged to apply. We look forward to seeing the breadth of work submitted by this year’s applicants.”
The scholarship is open to students aged 16 to 20 who are graduating in 2026 and planning to study full-time in an arts-related field at the post-secondary level. Eligible disciplines include performing and literary arts, as well as arts administration and recording arts.
Applicants must submit a CV, an artist statement and at least three samples of their work. Submissions must be completed online through the CK Arts Council website by 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2026.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview with the council’s adjudication committee, with interviews expected to be scheduled by May 15.
The successful applicant must provide proof of enrolment at a post-secondary institution by Sept. 1, 2026, before funds are released.
The recipient will be formally recognized at the CK Arts Council’s Cultural Hall of Fame event on Oct. 22, 2026, at the Chatham Cultural Centre.
