Lambton OPP officials allege: On April 20, 2022 at 11:05 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding an overturned canoe in Lake Huron near Ipperwash beach.
Officers responded, along with Kettle and Stoney Point Fire Department, Lambton Shores Fire and Emergency Services, Canadian Coast Guard, United States Coast Guard, Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and members of the community, to aid the two occupants who were seen in the water.
Both individuals were pulled from the water and transported to hospital.
One of the individuals is in serious, but stable condition.
The other individual was pronounced deceased at hospital.
The identities of the individuals are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
