Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent receives support from the Donna L’Ecuyer Foundation

For the past 10 years, the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent (ASCK) has been receiving local support from the Donna L’Ecuyer Foundation.

Most recently, ASCK was granted over $7,500 from the Foundation.

ASCK officials say the prevalence of dementia continues to increase locally and across the country.

Donations ensure ASCK can continue to meet the growing demand for their programs and services.

“The ASCK relies heavily on donations such as that received from the Donna L’Ecuyer Foundation. We are extremely grateful that, year after year, this foundation grant is awarded to our organization to assist us in improving and increasing our program and services. Alzheimer disease and related dementias are on the rise as is evidenced by the increase in our referrals. We could not keep up without this support,” states Mary Ellen, ASCK CEO, in a media release.

In Ontario, over 260,000 persons currently live with dementia.

The likelihood of knowing someone affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias continues to rise.

ASCK offers a wide variety of programs and services to assist local residents and families such as the L’Ecuyer family.

“We all know someone who is affected by dementia and many of us need help navigating what lies ahead after the diagnosis of someone close to us. Through early intervention and support from the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent, we were able to navigate the health care system and learn to understand how to work with someone with dementia. Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent made an extremely difficult situation easier, and we are proud to help fund the great work of the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent,” added Chris L’Ecuyer, in a press release.

The Donna L’Ecuyer Foundation has been providing financial support to local organizations throughout the years and ASCK is very honoured to be one of them.
